Moonflowers. Last year, while looking to build on my garden, I read about this perennial vine. Fast growing—really fast—its large, fragrant white flowers bloom only at night. Intrigued, I searched garden centers and found the plant at one of my favorite seasonal spots, Simon’s Gardens in Brookfield. The moonflowers were such a beautiful addition to our garden beds that I knew I had to have them this year, as well.

Heading straight to Simon’s, there they were, along with some of the healthiest, lushest-looking stock around. Geraniums, petunias, daisies, pansies, marigolds, and more. In flats, hanging baskets, pots, and wall planters. While Simon’s is small, it’s lovely to visit. Their staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and appear to take pride in their product.

I seek out only flowers, but for those of you who love your veggies, Simon’s also carries tomatoes, lettuce, peppers, zucchini, cabbage, eggplant, cucumbers, cauliflower, etc. They also have herbs and garden supplies.

If you can’t stop by Simon’s this summer, not to worry! Fall is glorious, too, with their mums, pumpkins, squash, decorative Indian corn, honey, specialty jams, and apples and cider products.

This is a family-owned business since 1852. (Amazing!) You can also discover Simon’s at different Farmer’s Markets: Oak Creek, Waukesha, and Greenfield.
