I admit — the thought of starting a kitchen remodel had me nervous. Two days before it began, I emailed Deanna Doperalski at Allen Kitchen & Bath to confess my jitters. She replied right away: “Mike is an awesome carpenter, and as soon as you meet him your mind will be at ease.”
She was right. The moment Mike Huhn of Huhn Remodeling Group walked through the door — smiling, professional, and ready to work — my anxiety disappeared. My husband, Bill, and I knew our dream kitchen was in good hands.
Mike was responsible for removing our old cabinetry and installing the new, approaching every step with meticulous care. What impressed us most wasn’t just his craftsmanship, but the way he kept us in the loop — updating us on progress and even the occasional hiccups along the way.
Mike is a perfectionist. If something wasn’t quite right — if it didn’t look perfect or work perfectly — he’d remind us, “You’re paying a lot of money for this kitchen. You deserve the best.” And he made sure we got exactly that.
One afternoon, Mike brought with him a longtime friend he’s training as a carpenter. Watching him mentor with patience, expertise, and generosity, it was clear the apprentice was learning from one of the best.
Bill and I also came to depend on Mike as our unofficial project coordinator. He was always on top of the next step and had answers to nearly every question; when he didn’t, he knew exactly whom to call. He had a wonderful rapport with the other tradespeople and the Allen Kitchen & Bath team.
Our custom cabinetry is now a showcase of Mike’s precision and artistry. I’ll never forget Bill walking
around the kitchen one day shortly after Mike left. He paused, smiled, and said, “I think we should adopt Mike.” For me, that says it all — and it’s why I’m proud to spotlight Mike Huhn and Huhn Remodeling Group.
